IDEATION
The ideation stage of the creative phase involved garment design which included everything from trend research to moodboard development, technical sketches, material sourcing, computer aided design (CAD), and 3D design.
The inspiration for the aesthetic components of these garments are drawn from Spring / Summer 2022 womenswear trends.
These business casual garments feature the juxtaposition of transparent and opaque fabrics, shape-shifting or modular aspects, as well as the popular design by elimination trend which involves detailing with innovative cutouts.
Garment 1
This jacket was designed to be a modular garment that utilizes rare earth magnets sandwiched between two layers of pleated fabric in order to transform the straight sleeves into gathered sleeves.
Garment 2
This jacket was designed to be a modular garment that utilizes a thread and motor system in order to collapse the pleated fabric to change the silhouette from boxy to gathered.
Garment 3
This jacket was designed to be a modular and practical garment that utilizes shape memory alloy wire or muscle wire in order to expand the sleeves from a shorter length to a longer length.
Garment 4
This top was designed to be a modular and size inclusive garment that utilizes rare earth magnets in the triangular V pleats, located at the side seams, in order to change the silhouette and/or size of the garment.
Garment 5
This bottom was designed to be a modular and practical garment that utilizes a thread and motor system in order to collapse the pant leg from a longer length to a shorter length.
Garment 6
This bottom was designed to be an accessible and size inclusive garment that utilizes rare earth magnets in order to create an expandable side seam panel that allows for ease of dressing and/or more sizing options.
