HOW IT WORKS

Inclusive Contents

EMBRACE includes content ranging from, but not limited to, video front covers, interactive editorials, creative profiles, animated advertisements, and engaging quizzes and games.

Our curated content features authentic stories, interesting events, engaging art, and lighthearted entertainment from around the globe, highlighting the creative talent of disabled artists, creators, designers, and allies.

Accessible Features

All content is available in both 3D augmented reality (AR) format and in 2D PDF document format. Currently, EMBRACE only offers our magazine experience in AR format however, as we continue to develop, our AR technology will become compatible with voice activation technology and virtual reality (VR) technology, allowing those with limited visual and physical mobility to be able to navigate the experience.
Descriptive Audio

Our built-in descriptive audio feature provides a “read aloud” function in both English and Korean and offers .txt files for those using screen reading softwares such as JAWS and NVDA.

Text Translation

Our built-in text translation feature allows users to alternate between different languages, from English to Korean or Korean to English.

Video / Audio

Our content may include video or audio features which can be played or muted using these icons.

Community Chat & Global Connection

Our community chat feature allows users to be able to discuss and explore the magazine content (articles, advertisements, events, quizzes, etc.) with others from around the globe. Our global connection feature allows users to see who around the world is currently viewing the same content (article, advertisement, quiz etc.).

Augmented Reality (AR) Experience

EMBRACE offers our augmented reality (AR) experience through our app and offers QR code access on our website, for users who are unable to access our app. Access through the app is the recommended option in order to gain a completely immersive experience however, both options provide full access to all our built-in accessibility and communication features.

App Version: Upon opening the EMBRACE app, users are brought to an AR magazine room which acts as a library for all of EMBRACE’s monthly magazine issues. Users may move around the room and browse until they find the magazine issue of their choice. The user may then click on the selected magazine issue and immediately, floating pages filled with the magazine content will emerge. While immersed in the AR world, users can then browse through the content and use any of the accessibility and communication features that are available. By double clicking on a floating page, users will be brought to the 2D PDF document version of the selected content.

Website Version: Upon opening the EMBRACE website, users may navigate to the online library filled with current and past EMBRACE magazine issues. Upon selecting the desired magazine issue, the website will provide two viewing options: 3D augmented reality (AR) or 2D PDF document. If selecting the 3D AR option, an AR version of the magazine content will appear and users may use their keypad or mouse to zoom or rotate while viewing the content or use any of the accessibility and communication features that are available. If users have an electronic device nearby, they may also use their device to scan the provided QR code and this will allow the AR magazine content to appear on their phones without downloading our app.

Our AR technology is currently only compatible with iOS 13+, iPad iOS 13+, and Android with ARCore 1.9+.
